But still, a sweet, bubbly girl went head over heels for him. She successfully melted his defenses.

Storyline

Head Over Heels is a Kdrama that follows the story of Park Sung Ah, a gifted young girl who lives with her spirit mother and works as a shaman. She has the unique ability to see and communicate with spirits. The twist is that she is just a high school student. Sung Ah dreams of attending college, regardless of her major; she simply wants to experience her high school graduation and attend college like any normal teenager her age.

She is friends with a popular kid, Pyo Ji-ho Ho. She lives an invisible life at school, hiding the fact that she is a shaman from her peers. But one day, during her sessions, she met Bae Gyeonu. She instantly fell head over heels for him. But he was upside down when he entered. This means he’s destined to die soon.

intro

Bae Gyeon U is a kid who transferred mid-semester from his previous school to Sung Ah’s school. He is a professional archer with numerous gold medals, but due to an accident, he has decided to leave the sport. He feels disconnected from his classmates and prefers to spend his days in solitude. Although the school’s archery team has approached him with an offer to join, he has declined, as he doesn’t want his bad luck to impact anyone else.

Park Sung Ah vowed to protect him and got into a tussle to shield him from all the spirits that were getting attracted toward his vulnerable spirit. In this process, she discovered that Gyeon-u is being manipulated by Yeomhwa, another shaman. She made his parents believe that Gyeon-u brings bad luck and thus threw him out of his family. That’s when his grandmother embraced him and raised him.

In a short time, Sung Ah formed a close bond with his grandmother. Although she tried to hide the fact that she was a shaman, Grandma discovered the truth but kept it a secret for her. Unfortunately, her role came to an end too soon when she passed away in the early episodes, leaving Bae Gyeon U all alone.

During this process of protecting him, Park Sung Ah, Pyo Ji Ho, and Bae Gyeon-u became close friends. Their trio became each other’s shield and support while the love triangle maintained its presence throughout the series.

Later in the series, General Dongcheon, Sung Ah’s adoptive mother, who is also a powerful shaman, came across a formidable dark spirit. It seemed that someone close to her, named Yeomhwa, was the one awakening and feeding this dark spirit with powers to grow stronger. Her target was Bae Gyeon u.

After it reached full power, this spirit possessed Bae Gyeon u, just as Yeomhwa had planned. The gentle and silent Bae Gyeon U now turned wild. Sung Ah named the spirit Bong Su.

Bong Su was completely the opposite of the owner of the body he possessed. When it came to challenges, Gyeon-u and Bong-su couldn’t be more different.

Gyeon-u often chose silence, quietly enduring situations without complaint. Bong-su, on the other hand, never held back.

Making friends was another striking contrast. While Gyeon-u found it difficult to connect with people, Bong-su could walk into any room and instantly bond with others. In many ways, Bong-su effortlessly achieved what Gyeon-u could not.

And that’s where the shift began. Sung-ah started missing her first love. Despite Bong-su’s charm, she found herself missing the simplicity and comfort that only Gyeon-u brought into her life.

I absolutely loved the drama. In the middle of the series, it can get a bit boring, but after the possession part, it’s super fun. If you’re a softie at heart, you will cry by the end and laugh throughout the series.
